Paladins are the versatile beacons of the Light. As the most melee-oriented hybrid class, they are very durable thanks to their empowering abilities, talents, and heavy armor. Their utility, durabability, and efficiency make them a great support.

An available spec may not mean an ideal spec in every scenario.
It is assumed that you will have one high-level character, so crafting professions are mostly paired with relevant gathering professions for self-sufficiency. During leveling, it is also commonly suggested to take Skinning & Herbalism or Skinning & Mining for maximum profit. Due to Engineering's utility (especially for PvP) and Alchemy's consumables (for consumption or profit), they are valuable for any class.
